The Mamalelekala (aka Mamalilikala) tribe is located in central British Columbia on Vancouver Island. The main village, Memkumlis, means “village with rocks and islands out front.” Curtis created a total of two (2) copper photogravure plates during his visits with the Mamalelekala and one (1) remains available to collectors today.
