Piegan

The Piegan people were the largest of the three tribes making up the Blackfoot Confederacy.  During the nineteenth century, the Piegan dominated much of the northern Great Plains. Today, many Piegan live in northwestern Montana, with tribal headquarters in Browning. Curtis created a total of sixty-eight (68) copper photogravure plates during his visits with the Piegan and only eight (8) remain available to collectors today.
