The Makah tribe are original people of the Pacific Northwest Coast who live in Washington.  Makah is the English pronunciation for their name from a neighboring tribe and means “generous ones”.  Curtis created ten (10) photogravure plates during his visits with the Makah tribe and all ten (10) remain available to collectors today.
