The Klickitat tribe originated in the Pacific Northwest in Klickitat and Skamania Counties, Washington. The name Klickitat is said to derive from a Chinookan word meaning “beyond” however, the Klickitat call themselves “prairie people.” Curtis created five (5) copper photogravure plates during his visits with the Klickitat and only two (2) remain available to collectors today
