Cape Prince of Wales

The Eskimo of Cape Prince of Wales lived in the village of Kingegan which translates to “a high place.” It is the western-most inhabited location in North America, only 55 miles from Siberia across the Bering Straits. Curtis created a total of nine (9) copper photogravure plates during his visits with the Eskimo of Cape Prince of Wales and eight (8) remain available to collectors today.
