The Maricopa (Piipaash) tribe are natives of southwestern Arizona. The Maricopa are known for their basket weaving and textiles, but in particular, they are known for their highly burnished red-on-redware pottery. Curtis created a total of eighteen (18) copper photogravure plates from his visits with the Maricopa and twelve (12) remain available to collectors today.
